Wednesday Weview: (no one, sorry!)

Item Obsession

Mmkay, so when I get bored, I'll be posting a few fashion items I think are rad. Like right now!

THEME: metallic silver

1. dress
This dress is MARVELOUS. I love the shape & pleats. But best of all, the fab, texture-y trim at the top.

2. pants
Some may think that these pants are an abomination, but I am a sucker for shiny things (like a raccoon!) so I like them very much. These would go great with a bold tee & a black vest.

3. bracelets
I like how they are silver & fancy, but still have jets of color. They're very graphic & clean.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
HOW WOULD YOU USE THESE IN A LOOK?

Wednesday Weview: Orangurple

Yay! It's Wednesdaytime again.

THIS WEEK: Orangurple
COMMENTS.
It takes a lot for red, white & blue to not look like the 4th of July. This set does a good job not looking Americana. That was the main reason I chose this set. Gotta love the funky earrings, though. Those earrings are so awesome & spherical.

QUESTION 1.
K: How did you find Polyvore?
O: I found Polyvore through some blog. I'm not sure what it was, but I clicked on the set and decided to try it out. After a few minutes of creating a set, I decided it was tons of fun and decided to join!

COMMENTS.
I. Love. Mixing. Prints. This set does that in a bizarre, yet workable (in my eyes) way. I never know what to do with those tiger print tees, and this set solves that problem! Please note the two different types of checked pattern. So daring! Glasses as a necklace is ironic, or at least amusing. The bag is really fun. I just realized this set has no shoes. I guess that means you go barefoot in this look. Even more awesome!

QUESTION 2.
K: How much time do you usually spend on a set?
O: When I'm not doing anything else and only focusing on Polyvore, most of the time a set only takes about 10-15 minutes.

COMMENTS.
The way that this set plays off the idea of a circus ringleader is great. The shirt says "circus animal!" and the red vest with all the gold screams circus as well. The top hat is a nice, obvious choice, and the accessories are marvelous. The shorts have great tab details. The shoes are fantastic and bold. The set just...works!

QUESTION 3.
K: Where do you draw inspiration from?
O: I draw inspiration from fashion blogs, music, and sometimes random people on the street.

COMMENTS.
I love the striped shirt & striped scarf combo here. The colors really play well off each other. The hat is classic, and the boots remind me of someone who would ride a motorcycle. Once again, very well picked accessories. The ring is amazing, I feel like someone who lived in medieval times & was really badass would wear that.

QUESTION 4.
K: What is your current favorite item on Polyvore?
O: Oooh, that's a great question! It changes frequently, but at the moment it's this gorgeous skirt. I think I'm going to have to get it!

COMMENTS.
This set is bogus, in a fun way. The pants are rad, & I'm a sucker for striped tees. Gray & white stripes is one of my favorite combos, too. The bag is so fruity & unexpected, and puts in a small bit of red to keep colors from being too matchy-matchy. The ring is simple but I feel it adds a lot to the outfit.

QUESTION 5.
K: What is your current favorite set?
O: That's tough to decide! After half an hour of browsing my favorites, I had to choose this set by EtchaSketchinLola. And not only because of the lovely talk about my blog and the fact that she choose one of my sets as her favorite. :P I really, really like it!

Wednesday Weview: EtchaSketchinLola

Hey dudes. So every Wednesday, I'm going to show & critique & compliment 5 sets from whatever ahhhmazing polyvore user I choose. If I get really bored, there might be non-Wednesday reviews.

There will also be interview questions! Yay, material!

COMMENTS.
What first drew me to this set was the photo of Zooey. She was a really cool actress in 2 of my favorite movies, "Almost Famous" & "Flakes"! On to the set. The clutch is darling, and matches wonderfully with the heel of the shoes & lipstick. I adore all the buttons on the top & shorts. The shades are funky yet delicate. The tights play off the textures in the top & clutch. The addition of the splatters in the corner & the swoosh behind the eyeliner fill in the space but don't over do it.

QUESTION 1.
Kneesock: How did you find Polyvore?
EtchaSketchinLola: My best friend had a friend who linked it to her because they went to a fashion merchandising school and it would be helpful and fun for them. So my bffl then then sent me the link because she loved it. I tried it once and new I was going to be addicted for life.

COMMENTS.
This set gets mega bonus points for being named after a song by Mountain, "Mississippi Queen". [Sound familar? It's on Guitar Hero III, for all you fauxrockers out there.] The dress matches the mention of a dress in the song, & the denim vest matches the mood of the song as well. Rough but pretty. I love the print & drawstring on the purse. The shoes match wonderfully & I love their shape. The jewelry completes the look but keeps the focus on the other elements. The photo in the corner is a nice touch, no fuss.

QUESTION 2.
K: How much time do you usually spend on a set?
E: I usually spend anywhere from 20-30 mins on a set. It usually only takes 30 mins if it's for a contest, though. I try to put a lot of thought into those.

COMMENTS.
These colors are amazing together. Never have red and green been so...not Christmassy! That takes skill. I hate when color combinations are connected to brands or companies. Every now and then I want to make a yellow & red outfit, but it always ends up looking like McDonalds. Bleh! The dress & tank look marvelous together. All the little accessories remind me of the detail on the front of the tank. The purse is very sleek & matches exactly!

QUESTION 3.
K: Where do you draw inspiration from?
E: My inspiration comes from magazines, stuff I'd like to own, and people on the street.

COMMENTS.
I love the colors & the graphic on the tank. Kneesocks and slip ons? Very daring. It makes me feel good to know I'm not the only person that would wear that sort of thing. In the back of my mind I always thought Vans looked awkward with out pants covering the top, but after seeing this set I've decided it's ok! [hehe] Great accessories: lip necklace? Amazing. I love the rounded-edge photo.

QUESTION 4.
K: What is your current favorite item on Polyvore?
E: Hmm, this is hard I think my favorite item is maybe this dress, or any ring with an owl or elephant.

COMMENTS.
The colors are warm but bold in this set. My favorite parts are the straps on the skirt, the hat (fedoras, when placed properly, are awesome!) and of course, the little owl! Excellent.

QUESTION 5.
K: What is your current favorite set?
E: My fave set is: (click here). It was made for me by Orangurple. I love every bit of it. It's so adorable. The colors, the items, the whole look is just perfect.
